PRINTING DEVICE AND PRINTING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240208207 titled 'PRINTING DEVICE AND PRINTING METHOD

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a detection unit that detects the landing positions of droplets ejected from a printing head based on the density of locations on a medium. It then controls the timing of droplet ejection to reduce deviations in landing positions.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Sensor detects density of locations on a medium.
  • Detection unit determines landing positions of droplets in the main scan direction.
  • Control unit adjusts timing of droplet ejection to reduce landing position deviations.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in inkjet printing systems to improve print quality by ensuring accurate droplet placement.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses the issue of inconsistent droplet landing positions in printing, leading to improved print accuracy and quality.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced print quality
  • Increased accuracy in droplet placement
  • Reduction in deviations in landing positions

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include high-quality printing for industries such as graphic design, packaging, and textile printing.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research on inkjet printing systems and droplet control mechanisms.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be exploring advancements in sensor technology for more precise detection of droplet landing positions in printing systems.

Questions about Droplet Detection Technology: 1. How does this technology improve print quality compared to traditional printing methods? 2. What are the potential cost savings for businesses implementing this droplet detection technology?

Original Abstract Submitted

a detection unit includes a sensor that detects a density of locations on a medium on which droplets ejected from a nozzle array during a main scan land while moving along a main scan direction together with a printing head. the detection unit detects landing positions in the main scan direction of the droplets ejected from the nozzle array based on a detection result of the sensor. a control unit controls, based on the landing positions in the main scan direction detected by the detection unit in the first main scan, a timing at which the printing head is caused to eject the droplets in a second main scan to reduce a deviation in the landing position in the main scan direction of the droplets ejected from the nozzle array between the first main scan and the subsequent second main scan.
