READOUT CIRCUIT SUPPORTING BINNING MODE AND DYNAMIC VISION SENSOR INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240205561 titled 'READOUT CIRCUIT SUPPORTING BINNING MODE AND DYNAMIC VISION SENSOR INCLUDING THE SAME

The dynamic vision sensor described in the patent application consists of a pixel array with pixels that detect changes in light intensity and a readout circuit that performs binning operations.

  • Pixel array with pixels arranged in rows and columns that detect changes in light intensity.
  • Readout circuit that selects pixels in target columns for binning operations and generates binning event signals based on the detected changes in light intensity.

Potential Applications:

  • High-speed imaging applications
  • Object tracking in robotics
  • Gesture recognition in human-computer interaction systems

Problems Solved:

  • Efficient processing of visual information in real-time
  • Reduction of data bandwidth in high-speed imaging systems

Benefits:

  • Improved performance in dynamic visual processing tasks
  • Reduced power consumption in imaging systems

Commercial Applications:

  • High-speed cameras for sports analysis
  • Surveillance systems for security applications
  • Industrial automation for quality control processes

Questions about Dynamic Vision Sensor: 1. How does the dynamic vision sensor improve real-time visual processing tasks? 2. What are the advantages of using a pixel array with light intensity detection capabilities in imaging systems?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing research focuses on enhancing the resolution and sensitivity of dynamic vision sensors for more precise imaging applications.

Original Abstract Submitted

provided is a dynamic vision sensor. the dynamic vision sensor includes: a pixel array including a plurality of pixels arranged in a plurality of rows and a plurality of columns, wherein each of the plurality of pixels is configured to detect a change in intensity of incident light; and a readout circuit configured to simultaneously select first pixels of first target columns among the plurality of columns in a first section of a binning operation, and generate and output first binning event signals of first binning pixel groups based on first event signals simultaneously output from the first pixels.
