ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING OUTPUT OF POWER AMPLIFIER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240204820 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING OUTPUT OF POWER AMPLIFIER

The abstract describes an electronic device with an antenna, a radio frequency front end (RFFE) connected to the antenna, and a power amplifier (PA). The device includes a control circuit that regulates the output of the PA to transmit a sounding reference signal (SRS) to a base station through the antenna.

  • The control circuit adjusts the PA output based on a target transmit power value, compensates for power loss in the electrical path, and compares the resulting value to a reference value.
  • The device ensures the SRS is transmitted at the desired power level while accounting for signal degradation in the electrical path.
  • By dynamically adjusting the PA output, the device optimizes the transmission of the SRS to the base station.

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic device includes an antenna, a radio frequency front end (rffe) connected to the antenna through an electrical path and including a power amplifier (pa). the electronic device includes a control circuit operably coupled to the rffe and configured to control the output of the pa in order to transmit a sounding reference signal (srs) based on a first value which is a target transmit (tx) power value of the srs to be transmitted to a base station through the antenna, a second value for compensating a power loss caused by the electric path when providing the srs to the antenna through the electric path, and whether a third value obtained based on the first value and the second value is less than or equal to a reference value or greater than the reference value.
