A system and method for customizing a credit or debit card that allows a user to select one or more of the orientation of the card, the shape of the card, the image appearing on the card, features on the front or the back of the card, the location and orientation of the account number on the card, the location and number of chips on the card, the location of the magnetic strip on the card, the location and orientation of the security number on the card, the color of the card, the language of words on the card and the font style of those words using an online application. The system includes a back-end server operating the online application and having a processor for processing data and information, a communications interface communicatively coupled to the processor, and a memory device storing data and executable code.
