BEAM FAILURE RECOVERY FOR MULTIPLE TRANSMIT RECEIVE POINTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18553063 titled 'BEAM FAILURE RECOVERY FOR MULTIPLE TRANSMIT RECEIVE POINTS

The present disclosure pertains to wireless communication technology, specifically addressing the detection and recovery of beam failures in user equipment (UE).

  • User equipment (UE) can detect failure of a beam associated with a transmit receive point (TRP) and transmit a recovery request indicating a new beam for reset.
  • The new beam is associated with a group of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources for the respective TRP.
  • Upon receiving a response to the recovery request, the UE resets to the new beam for continued communication.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be applied in 5G networks to improve beam management and maintain seamless connectivity. - It can enhance the reliability and efficiency of wireless communication systems in various industries such as telecommunications, IoT, and autonomous vehicles.

Problems Solved: - Addressing beam failures in wireless communication systems. - Improving beam switching and recovery mechanisms for enhanced user experience.

Benefits: - Enhanced reliability and stability of wireless connections. - Improved network performance and reduced downtime. - Seamless beam recovery for uninterrupted communication.

Questions about Wireless Communication Beam Recovery: 1. How does this technology contribute to the overall efficiency of wireless communication systems? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing beam recovery mechanisms in real-world network environments?

Original Abstract Submitted

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may detect failure of a beam, where the beam is one of a first beam associated with a first transmit receive point (TRP) or a second beam associated with a second TRP. The UE may transmit a recovery request that indicates a new beam for a beam reset by the UE, where the new beam is associated with a first group of physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resources for the first TRP if the beam is the first beam, or associated with a second group of PUCCH resources for the second TRP if the beam is the second beam. The UE may reset the UE to the new beam after receiving a response to the recovery request. Numerous other aspects are described.
