INDICATION OF SIMULTANEOUS RX BEAMS CAPABILITY AND RELATED MEASUREMENT RESOURCE COORDINATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240196197 titled 'INDICATION OF SIMULTANEOUS RX BEAMS CAPABILITY AND RELATED MEASUREMENT RESOURCE COORDINATION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application relates to coordinating measurement resources for simultaneous reception of multiple beams by a user equipment (UE) from a base station. The UE assigns resources for measurements on carriers based on its capability to receive multiple beams simultaneously, allowing for faster transmission of measurement reports.

  • UE receives measurement configuration from base station
  • UE assigns measurement resources based on simultaneous reception capability
  • UE determines measurement period scaling factor for carriers
  • Enables faster completion of measurements and transmission of reports

Key Features and Innovation

  • Coordinating measurement resources for simultaneous reception of multiple beams
  • Assigning resources based on UE's capability for faster measurements
  • Determining scaling factor for measurement periods on carriers

Original Abstract Submitted

the present disclosure is related to indication of simultaneous rx beams capability and related measurement resource coordination. in an embodiment, a ue is configured to receive, from a base station, a measurement configuration comprising a measurement period for performing measurements on one or more carriers. the ue is further configured to assign measurement resources to the one or more carriers based on a simultaneous rx beams capability, wherein the measurement resources comprise searchers and rx beams during each measurement occasion. the ue is further configured to determine a measurement period scaling factor for the one or more carriers based on the assigned resources. with this capability, the ue can complete l1 and/or l3 measurements and transmit a measurement report to the base station earlier.
