GLASSES DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING A POSE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18473139 titled 'GLASSES DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING A POSE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a glasses device with sensors that capture data to determine the user's pose.

  • The glasses device includes a frame structure for fixing it to the user's head.
  • It has at least one partially transparent vision element in front of the user's eye.
  • The sensor arrangement on the frame captures data representing a subarea of the user's body.
  • The sensor data is used to determine the user's pose.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in various fields such as:

  • Virtual reality and augmented reality applications
  • Sports training and performance analysis
  • Healthcare for monitoring patient movements

Problems Solved

  • Accurate pose determination without the need for external markers or cameras
  • Real-time feedback on body movements for various applications
  • Enhanced user experience in virtual environments

Benefits

  • Improved accuracy in tracking user movements
  • Hands-free operation for users in different scenarios
  • Customizable applications based on user's pose data

Potential Commercial Applications

  • Gaming and entertainment industries
  • Fitness and sports equipment manufacturers
  • Medical and rehabilitation centers

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be motion capture systems used in various industries for tracking body movements and poses.

Unanswered Questions

How does the glasses device handle different lighting conditions?

The patent application does not mention the battery life of the glasses device and how long it can operate on a single charge.

Original Abstract Submitted

A glasses device. The glasses device includes a frame structure for fixing the glasses device to a head of a user, at least one at least partially transparent vision element, which can be positioned in front of at least one eye of the user and through which the user can look, and at least one sensor arrangement arranged on the frame structure. The sensor arrangement is configured to capture sensor data while the user wears the glasses device. The sensor data at least partially represent at least one subarea of a body of the user during the wearing of the glasses device. A pose determination of a pose of the user can be carried out based on the sensor data.
