ACTIVITY ZONE FOR CAMERA VIDEO - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18421795 titled 'ACTIVITY ZONE FOR CAMERA VIDEO

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes methods and systems for establishing an activity zone within video captured by a camera, allowing for automatic monitoring and notification triggering based on the defined zones.

  • User devices can set up activity or exclusion zones within video captured by a camera.
  • An automatic monitoring system analyzes the video with respect to the zones and triggers relevant notifications to the user device.
  • This technology helps reduce the volume of notifications by only sending those that are pertinent to the user.

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in home security systems, retail analytics, and industrial monitoring to enhance surveillance capabilities and streamline notification processes.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses the issue of overwhelming users with irrelevant notifications from video monitoring systems, allowing for a more efficient and targeted alert system.

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include improved user experience, increased efficiency in monitoring, and enhanced security measures through focused notifications.

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications of this technology include security camera systems, smart home devices, retail analytics platforms, and industrial monitoring solutions.

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art for this technology could be existing video monitoring systems that lack the capability to define activity zones and filter notifications based on user preferences.

Unanswered Questions

1. How does the system differentiate between activities within the defined zones? 2. Can users customize the types of notifications triggered within the activity or exclusion zones?

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods and systems are provided for establishing an activity zone within video captured by a camera. A user device may establish an activity zone or an exclusion zone within video representing a physical view captured by the camera. An automatic monitoring system may analyze the video of the camera with respect to the activity zone or exclusion zone and trigger notifications that are associated with a zone so as to limit notifications transmitted to the user device to those notifications that are relevant to the user. With activity or exclusion zones video from a camera may be automatically monitored to reduce a volume of notifications transmitted to the user device.
