METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR DELIVERING MANIFESTLESS STREAMING MEDIA CONTENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18419523 titled 'METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR DELIVERING MANIFESTLESS STREAMING MEDIA CONTENT
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes methods, systems, and media for delivering manifestless streaming media content. This involves receiving a request for a specific segment of a live stream in a particular format, identifying the format based on the request URL, and delivering the corresponding segment to the user device.
- Simplified Explanation:
- Delivering streaming media content without the need for a manifest file. - Identifying and delivering specific segments of a live stream based on user requests.
Potential Applications
This technology could be applied in live streaming services, video-on-demand platforms, and online broadcasting systems.
Problems Solved
- Simplifies the delivery of streaming media content without the need for complex manifest files. - Allows for efficient and targeted delivery of specific segments of live streams.
Benefits
- Improved user experience with faster access to specific segments of live streams. - Reduced complexity in managing and delivering streaming media content.
Potential Commercial Applications
"Enhancing User Experience in Live Streaming Services with Manifestless Content Delivery"
Possible Prior Art
There may be prior art related to manifestless streaming technologies in the field of media streaming and content delivery systems.
Unanswered Questions
How does this technology impact bandwidth usage in streaming services?
This technology could potentially optimize bandwidth usage by delivering only the requested segments of a live stream, reducing unnecessary data transfer.
What security measures are in place to protect the delivery of specific segments of live streams?
Security measures such as encryption and authentication protocols may be implemented to ensure the secure delivery of specific segments of live streams to user devices.
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods, systems, and media for delivering manifestless streaming media content are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: receiving, from a user device, a request for a URL corresponding to a format of a live stream that is provided in a plurality of formats, wherein the live stream comprises a plurality of segments for each of the plurality of formats; resolving the request to a specific segment of the live stream based on the URL, wherein the resolving comprises: identifying the format of the live stream associated with the request from the plurality of formats based on the URL; and identifying a segment of the plurality of segments corresponding to the identified format to the user device in a response to the request.
