ACCIDENT INFORMATION COLLECTION AND PROCESSING METHOD AND VEHICLE OPERATION CONTROL SERVER USING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18234962 titled 'ACCIDENT INFORMATION COLLECTION AND PROCESSING METHOD AND VEHICLE OPERATION CONTROL SERVER USING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a server for vehicle operation control that collects event data from vehicles involved in a traffic accident, determines the severity of the accident based on the number of vehicles with deployed airbags, and transmits notifications to trailing vehicles accordingly.

  • The server collects event data from vehicles in a road section.
  • It determines the quantity of vehicles with deployed airbags in connection with the accident.
  • Based on this quantity, it calculates an accident severity value.
  • Notifications are then sent to trailing vehicles based on the severity value.
  • Additional information is collected if the severity value meets a threshold.

Potential Applications

The technology could be applied in:

  • Traffic management systems
  • Vehicle safety systems
  • Emergency response systems

Problems Solved

This technology helps in:

  • Improving communication between vehicles during accidents
  • Enhancing safety measures on the road
  • Providing real-time information to drivers

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Faster response times during accidents
  • Enhanced situational awareness for drivers
  • Improved overall road safety

Potential Commercial Applications

Potential commercial applications include:

  • Integration into automotive safety systems
  • Licensing to traffic management companies
  • Implementation in smart city infrastructure

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be a system that collects and analyzes data from vehicles involved in accidents to improve emergency response and communication between vehicles.

What are the legal implications of implementing this technology?

Implementing this technology may raise concerns about data privacy and security, as it involves collecting and transmitting sensitive information about accidents and vehicle operations. Companies using this technology would need to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and implement robust security measures to protect the data.

How can this technology be adapted for use in autonomous vehicles?

This technology could be adapted for use in autonomous vehicles by integrating it with the vehicle's autonomous driving system. The server could communicate with autonomous vehicles to provide real-time information about accidents and road conditions, allowing the vehicles to adjust their driving behavior accordingly.

Original Abstract Submitted

A server is provided for vehicle operation control. The server may collect, from one or more vehicles in a road section, event data regarding a traffic accident associated with a road section; determine, based on the event data and among the one or more vehicles, a quantity of vehicles that had at least one airbag deployed in connection with the traffic accident; determine, based on the quantity of the vehicles that had at least one airbag deployed in connection with the traffic accident, an accident severity value indicating seriousness of the traffic accident; transmit, based on the accident severity value, a notification to a trailing vehicle; and collect, based on a determination that the accident severity value satisfies a threshold value, additional information associated with the traffic accident.
