Embodiments of this application are applied to a wireless local area network system that supports 802.11 series protocols, for example, a next-generation Wi-Fi protocol of IEEE 802.11ax, such as 802.11be, Wi-Fi 7, or EHT, or for another example, a next-generation protocol of 802.11be or Wi-Fi 8, and may be further applied to an ultra-wideband UWB-based wireless personal area network system or a sensing (sensing) system. Embodiments of this application provide a communication method and apparatus. The method includes: generating a synchronization header field based on a sequence set, where the sequence set includes at least one of the following sequences: a sequence with a length of 127, a sequence with a length of 31, a sequence with a length of 91, or a sequence with a length of 64; and sending the synchronization header field.
