A surgical stapling system is disclosed that includes a firing drive, a first lockout, and a second lockout. The firing drive comprises a first edge and a second edge. The first lockout is configurable between a first locked state in which the first lockout engages the first edge during the firing stroke and a first unlocked state in which the first edge bypasses the first lockout during the firing stroke. The second lockout is configurable between a second locked state in which the second lockout engages the second edge during the firing stroke and a second unlocked state in which the second edge bypasses the second lockout during the firing stroke. A staple cartridge is seatable in the stapling system that comprises a first key that unlocks the first lockout and a second key that unlocks the second lockout.
