REFRIGERATOR AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18489339 titled 'REFRIGERATOR AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

Simplified Explanation

The disclosed patent application is for a refrigerator that includes a storage compartment with a door that opens and closes it. The door also has a dispenser and a water tank case. Inside the water tank case, there is a water tank that can be separated from it. The refrigerator also has a water level sensor that detects the water level inside the tank when it is mounted in the case. Additionally, there is a water tank valve that controls the flow of water from a water supply source to either the dispenser or the water tank. The valve also prevents water from being supplied to the water tank when the water level sensor detects that a certain amount of water is already stored in the tank.

  • The refrigerator has a storage compartment with a door that includes a dispenser.
  • A water tank case is located in the door of the refrigerator.
  • The water tank is separable from the water tank case.
  • A water level sensor is present to detect the water level inside the tank when it is mounted in the case.
  • A water tank valve controls the water supply to the dispenser and the water tank.
  • The valve prevents water from being supplied to the water tank when a certain amount of water is already stored in it.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be applied in household refrigerators to provide convenient access to both chilled water and water for other purposes.
  • It can also be used in commercial refrigerators, such as those found in offices or public spaces, to offer water dispensing options.

Problems Solved:

  • The technology solves the problem of overfilling the water tank by preventing water supply when a certain amount of water is already stored.
  • It ensures that the water tank is always filled with the desired amount of water, as detected by the water level sensor.

Benefits:

  • Users can easily access both chilled water and water for other purposes from the refrigerator.
  • The technology prevents water wastage by avoiding overfilling of the water tank.
  • It provides a convenient and efficient way to manage water supply in a refrigerator.

Original Abstract Submitted
