RECOVERY VERIFICATION SYSTEM, COLLATION SYSTEM, RECOVERY VERIFICATION METHOD, AND NON-TEMPORARY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18265726 titled 'RECOVERY VERIFICATION SYSTEM, COLLATION SYSTEM, RECOVERY VERIFICATION METHOD, AND NON-TEMPORARY COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
Simplified Explanation
The abstract of the patent application describes a recovery verification system that uses encryption and random number generation to store and protect biometric information of a registrant. The system also includes a determination unit that calculates a concealment index based on the similarity between the registration input information and collation information of an authenticated subject. The system then performs authentication based on the index.
- The template storage unit stores encrypted biometric information of a registrant.
- The random number generation unit generates a random number in response to a client's request.
- The protected template generation unit conceals the template by using the random number and transmits a protected template to the client.
- The determination unit acquires information about a concealment index from the client, which is calculated based on collation information and the protected template.
- The determination unit generates an index by decrypting the concealment index using a public key associated with the secret key and the random number.
- The system performs authentication based on the index.
Potential Applications:
- Biometric authentication systems
- Identity verification systems
- Access control systems
Problems Solved:
- Protecting sensitive biometric information
- Ensuring secure transmission of templates
- Calculating concealment index for accurate authentication
Benefits:
- Enhanced security and privacy of biometric data
- Efficient and accurate authentication process
- Scalable and adaptable to various applications and industries
Original Abstract Submitted
In a recovery verification system, a template storage unit stores a template acquired by encrypting registration input information being biometric information about a registrant by using a secret key. A random number generation unit generates a random number in response to a request from the client. A protected template generation unit conceals the template by the random number, and transmits a protected template to the client. A determination unit acquires, from the client, information about a concealment index that is acquired by concealing a degree of similarity between registration input information and collation information being biometric information about an authenticated subject and is calculated based on the collation information and the protected template. A determination unit generates an index acquired by decrypting the concealment index by using a public key associated with the secret key and the random number, and performs authentication, based on the index.
