a speech therapy device includes a first microphone, a second microphone, and output components. the speech therapy device receives first audio data from the first microphone and second audio data from the second microphone. the first audio data and the second audio data are associated with a sound captured in an environment of the speech therapy device. the speech therapy device determines, based at least in part on the first audio data and the second audio data, that the sound is associated with user speech of the user. based at least in part on the sound being associated with the user speech, the speech therapy device determines one or more characteristics associated with the user speech, and determines that the one or more characteristics are indicative of hypophonia. when the one or more characteristics are indicative of hypophonia, the speech therapy device outputs a notification via the output components.
