a method for ventilation liberation is provided, including: (1) generating readiness statuses for each of a plurality of patients; (2) generating a risk score for each of the plurality of patients; and (3) generating patient planning data, such as patient assignments for staff members and/or a suggested treatment schedule. the readiness statuses may include sat, sbt and/or extubation readiness statuses. the readiness statuses are based on patient characteristics such as vital sign measurements, ventilator settings, laboratory data, primary diagnosis data, sedation status, and/or patient medication data. the risk score is based on patient risk factors such as vital sign measurements, primary diagnosis data, patient comorbidity data, and/or reintubation risk data. the patient assignments and/or the suggested treatment schedule are based on the readiness statuses of each of the patients, the risk score of each of the patients, and/or staffing data corresponding to each of the staff members.
