SURFACE-DIVIDED POLARIZATION CONVERSION COMPONENT, AND DISPLAY DEVICE

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18641990 titled 'SURFACE-DIVIDED POLARIZATION CONVERSION COMPONENT, AND DISPLAY DEVICE

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided are a surface-divided polarization conversion component capable of generating from one display panel two images at different virtual image distances, and a display device using the surface-divided polarization conversion component. The surface-divided polarization conversion component includes, in a plan view: a first transmissive part which transmits polarized light for a first image; and a second transmissive part which transmits polarized light for a second image, the second transmissive part introducing a phase difference different by λ/2 from a phase difference introduced by the first transmissive part.
