ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR REDUCING POWER CONSUMPTION AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18468190 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR REDUCING POWER CONSUMPTION AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a device and method for reducing power consumption in an electronic device. The device includes a display, a battery, and at least one processor connected to the display. The processor determines whether to perform a handover to a second communication network based on the activation of the display and the data throughput while connected to a first communication network. If a handover is determined, the device switches to the second communication network.

  • The device reduces power consumption by optimizing the use of communication networks based on the activation of the display and data throughput.
  • The processor determines whether a handover to a more suitable communication network is necessary.
  • The handover is performed when it is determined that switching to the second communication network is beneficial.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Mobile devices: This technology can be applied to smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices to optimize power consumption while maintaining connectivity.
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices: IoT devices can benefit from this technology by reducing power consumption when connected to different communication networks.
  • Wearable devices: Smartwatches, fitness trackers, and other wearable devices can use this technology to conserve battery life while ensuring reliable communication.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Power consumption: The technology addresses the issue of excessive power consumption in electronic devices by optimizing the use of communication networks.
  • Connectivity: By performing handovers to more suitable communication networks, the technology ensures uninterrupted connectivity for the device.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Extended battery life: By reducing power consumption, the technology allows for longer battery life in electronic devices.
  • Improved connectivity: The technology ensures that the device remains connected to the most suitable communication network, resulting in better connectivity and data throughput.
  • Enhanced user experience: With optimized power consumption and improved connectivity, users can enjoy a seamless and reliable experience with their electronic devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

A device and a method for reducing power consumption of an electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a display device, a battery, and at least one processor configured to be operatively connected to the display device, wherein the processor may determine whether to perform a handover to a second communication network, based on whether the display device is activated and a data throughput, in a state of connection to a first communication network among a plurality of communication networks supportable by the electronic device, and perform a handover to the second communication network when it is determined to perform the handover to the second communication network.
