A method for updating location information is performed by a terminal device and includes: receiving indication information of a network device, and the indication information indicates an operation of the terminal device to acquire location information; and in response to determining that the location information is expired, acquiring new location information by the terminal device by performing the operation based on the indication information, and updating the location information.
