INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17987110 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a system where a physician-side information processing apparatus receives a second image from a patient-side information processing apparatus. The second image is a reduced data version of a first image captured by the patient. The physician-side apparatus then processes the second image by cutting out a partial image and sends the processed information back to the patient-side apparatus. The patient-side apparatus then applies the processed information to the first image and sends the processed image back to the physician-side apparatus.

  • The system involves a physician-side and patient-side information processing apparatus.
  • The patient captures a first image and sends it to the physician.
  • The physician instructs the patient to capture a second image with reduced data.
  • The physician cuts out a partial image from the second image and sends the processed information back to the patient.
  • The patient applies the processed information to the first image and sends the processed image back to the physician.

Potential Applications

  • Telemedicine: Allows physicians to remotely review and process patient images.
  • Medical imaging: Can be used for image analysis and diagnosis.
  • Remote consultations: Enables physicians to provide guidance and instructions to patients remotely.

Problems Solved

  • Remote image processing: Allows physicians to process patient images without being physically present.
  • Data reduction: Reduces the data amount of the second image for efficient transmission.
  • Efficient communication: Enables effective communication between physicians and patients through image processing.

Benefits

  • Remote access: Physicians can access and process patient images from anywhere.
  • Time-saving: Reduces the need for in-person consultations, saving time for both physicians and patients.
  • Cost-effective: Reduces the need for physical transportation of images and allows for remote consultations, potentially lowering costs.

Original Abstract Submitted

A physician-side information processing apparatus receives from a patient-side information processing apparatus a second image in which a patient has been captured in response to an instruction of the physician-side information processing apparatus and whose data amount has been reduced in comparison to a first image in which the patient has been captured, performs processing for cutting out a partial image from the second image, and transmits, to the patient-side information processing apparatus, information that has been set by performing the processing on the second image by the processing unit. The physician-side information processing apparatus receives from the patient-side information processing apparatus a processed image that is the first image on which the processing has been performed based on the information in the patient-side information processing apparatus.
