SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTERACTING WITH EXTENDED REALITY ENVIRONMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240377886 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTERACTING WITH EXTENDED REALITY ENVIRONMENT

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a system and method for interacting with an extended reality environment using a ring-type controller with a touch sensor and a head-mounted display. The method involves generating touch signals, detecting objects in the touch sensor's area, and moving a cursor in the extended reality scene based on the controller's movements.

  • The system includes a touch sensor in a ring-type controller and a head-mounted display for extended reality scenes.
  • The touch sensor generates touch signals when an object is detected in its area.
  • The head-mounted display determines if an object is in the detection area and generates commands based on the controller's movements.
  • The cursor in the extended reality scene is moved according to the commands from the controller.

Potential Applications: 1. Gaming: This technology can enhance gaming experiences by providing more intuitive and interactive controls in virtual environments. 2. Training and Simulation: It can be used for training simulations in various industries, such as aviation, healthcare, and military. 3. Questions about Extended Reality Interaction: 1. How does this technology improve user interactions in virtual environments? 2. What are the potential limitations or challenges of using a ring-type controller for extended reality interactions?

Original Abstract Submitted

a system and a method for interacting with an extended reality environment are provided. the method includes: generating, by a touch sensor with a detection area, a touch signal, wherein the touch sensor is included in a ring-type controller; providing, by a head-mounted display, an extended reality scene; determining, by the head-mounted display, whether an object is in the detection area according to the touch signal; in response to determining the object is in the detection area, generating, by the head-mounted display, a first command according to a movement of the ring-type controller; and moving, by the head-mounted display, a cursor in the extended reality scene according to the first command.
