CHARGING/DISCHARGING APPARATUS, OPERATION METHOD THEREOF, AND DISPLAY APPARATUS INCLUDING THE CHARGING/DISCHARGING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240380234 titled 'CHARGING/DISCHARGING APPARATUS, OPERATION METHOD THEREOF, AND DISPLAY APPARATUS INCLUDING THE CHARGING/DISCHARGING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a charging/discharging apparatus for a display device, which includes a charging unit to charge a battery pack and a DC-DC converter to convert the battery voltage for operating the display.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Charging unit charges the battery pack with a voltage lower than the secondary voltage generated by the display from an AC power source.
  • DC-DC converter converts battery voltage into a suitable voltage for the display's operation.
  • Two modes: charging mode when AC power is applied, and discharging mode when AC power is not applied.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in various display devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops to efficiently manage battery charging and discharging.

Problems Solved: The technology addresses the issue of optimizing battery usage in display devices by providing a system that charges and discharges the battery effectively based on power source availability.

Benefits:

  • Efficient battery management for prolonged device usage.
  • Optimal utilization of power sources for enhanced device performance.
  • Extended battery lifespan due to controlled charging/discharging processes.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be applied in consumer electronics, portable devices, and other battery-operated products to improve battery efficiency and overall device performance.

Questions about Charging/Discharging Apparatus: 1. How does the charging/discharging apparatus optimize battery usage in display devices? 2. What are the key benefits of using this technology in consumer electronics?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing research in battery technology and power management systems can further enhance the efficiency and performance of charging/discharging apparatus in display devices.

Original Abstract Submitted

provided are a charging/discharging apparatus, an operation method of the charging/discharging apparatus, and a display apparatus including the charging/discharging apparatus. the charging/discharging apparatus includes a charging unit comprising circuitry configured to charge a battery pack, and a direct current (dc)-dc converter configured to convert a battery voltage of the battery pack into a voltage for operating the display apparatus, wherein, in a first mode based on an alternating current (ac) power source being applied to the display apparatus, the charging/discharging apparatus charges the battery pack with a battery voltage less than a secondary voltage generated by the display apparatus from the ac power source through the charging unit, and in a second mode based on the ac power source not being applied to the display apparatus, the charging/discharging apparatus delivers the battery voltage of the battery pack to the display apparatus.
