ELECTRONIC DEVICE COMPRISING HOLE THROUGH WHICH SIGNAL HAVING POLARIZATION PASSES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240356239 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE COMPRISING HOLE THROUGH WHICH SIGNAL HAVING POLARIZATION PASSES

The abstract describes an electronic device with a housing, antenna module, and conductive members.

  • The electronic device consists of a housing with a front plate, rear plate, and side bezel.
  • A hole is formed on the side bezel for the antenna module.
  • The antenna module includes a substrate, a first conductive member emitting signals with different polarizations, and a second conductive member coupled to the first conductive member.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in smartphones, tablets, and other wireless communication devices. - It can also be applied in IoT devices, smart home systems, and industrial automation for wireless connectivity.

Problems Solved: - Provides efficient signal transmission and reception in electronic devices. - Helps in reducing interference and improving signal quality.

Benefits: - Enhanced wireless communication performance. - Compact design for space-saving in electronic devices. - Improved signal reliability and stability.

Commercial Applications: - This technology can be utilized by electronics manufacturers to enhance the wireless capabilities of their products, leading to better connectivity and user experience.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the design of the housing impact the performance of the antenna module? 2. What are the potential challenges in integrating this technology into different types of electronic devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic device, according to an embodiment, may comprise: a housing including a front plate, a rear plate oriented in a direction opposite to the front plate, and a side bezel surrounding a space between the front plate and the rear plate; a hole formed on the side bezel; an antenna module comprising a substrate disposed inside the housing and spaced apart from the hole, and a first conductive member comprising a conductive material disposed on a surface of the substrate facing the hole and configured to emit a signal having first polarization or second polarization; and a second conductive member comprising a conductive material disposed on a non-conductive member while facing the first conductive member, and coupled to the first conductive member.
