HAPTIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18752224 titled 'HAPTIC DEVICE

Simplified Explanation: The haptic device described in the patent application includes a housing with a vibration body inside. It also features a control device that can provide tactile or force sensations to the user by controlling the vibration pattern of the body. Additionally, there is a band attached to the housing that allows the user's body to be positioned between the band and a contact surface on the housing.

  • The haptic device consists of a housing and a vibration body.
  • A control device can generate tactile or force sensations by controlling the vibration pattern.
  • A band is fixed to the housing, allowing the user's body to be positioned between the band and the housing's contact surface.

Potential Applications: 1. Virtual reality gaming experiences. 2. Medical simulations for training purposes. 3. Rehabilitation exercises for physical therapy. 4. Remote communication devices for enhanced sensory feedback. 5. Accessibility devices for individuals with visual impairments.

Problems Solved: 1. Lack of realistic tactile feedback in virtual environments. 2. Limited sensory experiences in medical training simulations. 3. Inadequate feedback in rehabilitation exercises. 4. Challenges in providing sensory feedback in remote communication. 5. Accessibility barriers for individuals with visual impairments.

Benefits: 1. Enhanced user immersion and engagement. 2. Improved training effectiveness in medical simulations. 3. Better rehabilitation outcomes with targeted feedback. 4. Enhanced communication experiences for remote users. 5. Increased accessibility for individuals with visual impairments.

Commercial Applications: The haptic device could be utilized in various industries such as gaming, healthcare, communication technology, and accessibility devices. Its innovative design offers a wide range of commercial applications with potential market implications in these sectors.

Questions about Haptic Devices: 1. How do haptic devices enhance user experiences in virtual reality? 2. What are the potential benefits of incorporating haptic technology in medical simulations?

Original Abstract Submitted

The haptic device includes a housing and a vibration body accommodated in the housing. The haptic device includes a control device capable of presenting at least one of a tactile sensation and a force sensation to a user by controlling a vibration pattern of the vibration body. In addition, the haptic device includes a band including a first portion that is fixed to an outer surface of the housing. In the haptic device, a body of the user is able to be attached between an abutting portion of the band that is a portion different from the first portion, and a contact surface that is a part of the outer surface of the housing.
