PUCCH CELL SWITCHING OPERATIONS CONSIDERING CELL DRX CONFIGURATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18632392 titled 'PUCCH CELL SWITCHING OPERATIONS CONSIDERING CELL DRX CONFIGURATION

Simplified Explanation

This patent application describes a communications apparatus that can determine the cell for Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) transmission for each slot in a network with multiple cells.

Key Features and Innovation

  • Communications apparatus determines PUCCH transmission cell for each slot in a network with multiple cells.
  • Apparatus can communicate via a first cell and a second cell.
  • Includes at least one processor and memory storing instructions for cell Discontinuous Reception (DRX) configuration.
  • If a slot is in a cell DRX non-active period, the second cell is determined for PUCCH transmission during that slot.

Potential Applications

This technology can be applied in cellular networks to optimize PUCCH transmission and improve overall network efficiency.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses the challenge of efficiently determining the cell for PUCCH transmission in networks with multiple cells.

Original Abstract Submitted

A communications apparatus, configured for determining a cell for Physical Uplink Control Channel, PUCCH, transmission for each of a plurality of slots configured, wherein the communications apparatus is configured to communicate via a first cell and a second cell, and the communications apparatus includes at least one processor; and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the communications apparatus at least to obtain a first cell Discontinuous Reception, DRX, configuration for the first cell, the first cell DRX configuration including cell DRX non-active periods and/or cell DRX active periods for the plurality of slots; and if detecting a slot for which the first cell is at least partially in a cell DRX non-active period during the slot, determine the second cell as a cell for PUCCH transmission during the detected slot.
