METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DELAY INFORMATION REPORTING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18628797 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR DELAY INFORMATION REPORTING
Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method for reporting delay information in a communication system.
- The method receives a threshold through RRC signaling.
- It checks if the delay budget of any packet in a logical channel group is below the threshold.
- If a delay budget is below the threshold, it triggers a delay information report.
- It then determines if there are available uplink resources for transmitting the delay information.
- If resources are available, it generates a MAC CE containing delay information and transmits it on the uplink resource.
Key Features and Innovation:
- Threshold-based delay information reporting.
- Utilization of logical channel groups for managing delay budgets.
- Efficient allocation of uplink resources for delay information transmission.
Potential Applications: The technology can be applied in various communication systems where delay reporting is crucial, such as in 5G networks, IoT devices, and industrial automation.
Problems Solved:
- Efficient reporting of delay information.
- Optimal utilization of uplink resources.
- Timely detection of delays in packet transmission.
Benefits:
- Improved network performance.
- Enhanced quality of service.
- Reduced latency in data transmission.
Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in telecommunications companies, IoT service providers, and industries requiring real-time data transmission for monitoring and control purposes.
Prior Art: Readers interested in prior art related to this technology can explore research papers, patents, and standards related to delay reporting in communication systems.
Frequently Updated Research: Researchers are continuously exploring ways to enhance delay reporting mechanisms in communication systems to meet the increasing demands for low-latency data transmission.
Questions about Delay Information Reporting: 1. How does the method determine the threshold for delay reporting? 2. What are the implications of triggering delay information reporting on network performance?
Original Abstract Submitted
A method for delay information reporting is provided. The method receives a threshold via RRC signaling. The method determines whether at least one of delay budgets of one or more packets buffered in a first logical channel group LCG is below the threshold. In a case that at least one delay budget is below the threshold, the method triggers a delay information reporting (DR); determines whether at least one uplink resource is available for a MAC CE for the DR; and in a case that the at least one UL resource is available, generates the MAC CE by including delay information associated with a first delay range for the first LCG, and transmits the MAC CE on the at least one UL resource.
