A management device is for an injection molding machine including a cylinder divided into zones from upstream to downstream along a direction in which a molding material is fed, a temperature adjuster provided in each of the zones, and a temperature detector configured to detect an actual temperature of each of the zones. The management device includes processing circuitry configured to detect abnormal heat generation due to shearing of the molding material based on the actual temperature of a predetermined zone of the zones excluding a most upstream zone and a most downstream zone.
