VEHICLE CHARGING PORT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18631050 titled 'VEHICLE CHARGING PORT

The vehicle charging port described in this patent application consists of an opening in a body, a charging inlet with a recess for a charging connector, and a lid for opening and closing the recess and the opening. Additionally, a water-stopping member is inserted into the recess to prevent water ingress when the opening is closed, and it can move in a direction perpendicular to its insertion.

  • The vehicle charging port includes an opening, a charging inlet with a recess, and a lid for opening and closing.
  • A water-stopping member is inserted into the recess to prevent water ingress when the port is closed.
  • The water-stopping member can move in a direction orthogonal to its insertion into the recess.

Potential Applications: - Electric vehicle charging stations - Automotive manufacturing industry - Smart city infrastructure development

Problems Solved: - Preventing water damage to the charging port components - Ensuring safe and efficient charging of electric vehicles

Benefits: - Enhanced durability of the charging port - Improved safety during charging processes - Reduced maintenance costs for electric vehicle owners

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative Vehicle Charging Port for Electric Vehicles" This technology can be utilized in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, automotive manufacturing, and smart city projects, offering enhanced safety and efficiency in charging processes.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the water-stopping member prevent water ingress into the charging port? The water-stopping member is inserted into the recess of the charging inlet when the port is closed, creating a barrier against water intrusion. 2. What are the potential long-term benefits of implementing this innovative charging port design? By preventing water damage and ensuring safe charging processes, the technology can lead to increased longevity of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and reduced maintenance costs over time.

Original Abstract Submitted

The vehicle charging port of the present disclosure includes an opening formed in a body, a charging inlet having a recess into which a charging connector is inserted, and a lid for opening and closing the recess and the opening. The vehicle switching port comprises a water-stopping member inserted into the recess along the inner surface of the recess when the opening is closed, wherein the water-stopping member is movable in a direction orthogonal to the direction of insertion into the recess.
