IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18636762 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes an image forming apparatus that calculates and adjusts the conveyance of recording materials to prevent image defects caused by impacts during the printing process.

  • The controller calculates the loosening amount of the second recording material between conveyance and transfer nips.
  • It determines if an image exists in a blurring region where defects may occur due to impacts.
  • The conveyance interval is extended if the loosening amount is significant and an image exists in the blurring region.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Calculation and adjustment of recording material conveyance to prevent image defects.
  • Detection of potential image defects in blurring regions.
  • Automatic extension of conveyance interval to mitigate impact-related image defects.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various printing devices and systems where precise conveyance of recording materials is crucial to prevent image defects.

Problems Solved:

  • Preventing image defects caused by impacts during the printing process.
  • Ensuring high-quality image transfer by adjusting conveyance intervals.

Benefits:

  • Improved image quality and consistency.
  • Reduction of image defects and reprints.
  • Enhanced overall printing efficiency and reliability.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include digital printing machines, photocopiers, and other image forming devices where high-quality prints are essential for customer satisfaction and business success.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research on image forming apparatus with impact detection and prevention mechanisms.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be exploring advancements in image forming technology to further enhance the prevention of image defects caused by impacts during the printing process.

Questions about Image Forming Technology: 1. How does the image forming apparatus detect potential image defects in blurring regions? 2. What are the specific parameters used to calculate the loosening amount of the recording material in the conveyance process?

Original Abstract Submitted

An image forming apparatus includes a controller controlling conveyance of first and second recoding materials. The controller calculates based on an acquired length of the second recording material in the conveyance direction before feeding, a loosening amount of the second recording material between a conveyance nip and a transfer nip when the second recording material is nipped in them. The controller determines based on the acquired information on the image, whether an image exists in a blurring region where an image defect is generated in the image to be transferred due to an impact occurred when a trailing end of the second recording material in the conveyance direction passes through the conveyance nip. The controller extends a conveyance interval between the first and second recording materials when it is determined that the loosening amount is a predetermined value or more and the image exists in the blurring region.
