INTEGRATED CIRCUIT INCLUDING READ ONLY MEMORY (ROM) CELL - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18637013 titled 'INTEGRATED CIRCUIT INCLUDING READ ONLY MEMORY (ROM) CELL

The abstract describes an integrated circuit with a read-only memory (ROM) cell that includes an on-cell. The on-cell consists of a first source/drain region, a second source/drain region, a frontside contact connecting the first source/drain region to a bit line on the front side, and a backside contact connecting the second source/drain region to a power line on the back side. The bit line provides a bit line signal to the on-cell, while the power line supplies a power supply voltage signal to the on-cell. The bit line and power line are vertically aligned with each other.

  • Integrated circuit with a ROM cell featuring an on-cell design
  • On-cell includes first and second source/drain regions, frontside and backside contacts
  • Bit line provides bit line signal, power line supplies power supply voltage signal
  • Bit line and power line are vertically aligned with each other

Potential Applications: - Memory storage devices - Embedded systems - Consumer electronics

Benefits: - Faster data access - Higher data storage capacity - Reduced power consumption

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative ROM Cell Integrated Circuit for Enhanced Data Storage" This technology can be utilized in various commercial applications such as: - Smartphones - Tablets - Wearable devices

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the on-cell design improve data storage efficiency? 2. What are the advantages of vertically aligning the bit line and power line in the integrated circuit?

Original Abstract Submitted

An integrated circuit includes a read only memory (ROM) cell which includes an on-cell. The on-cell includes: a first source/drain region and a second source/drain region; a frontside contact between the first source/drain region and a bit line on a front side of the on-cell; and a backside contact between the second source/drain region and a power line on a back side of the on-cell. The bit line is configured to provide a bit line signal to the on-cell, and the power line is configured to provide a power supply voltage signal to the on-cell. The bit line and the power line are vertically aligned with each other.
