APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING IMAGE DATA RELATING TO A SUBJECT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18682642 titled 'APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROCESSING IMAGE DATA RELATING TO A SUBJECT

The patent application describes an apparatus for processing image data related to a subject, with instructions stored in memory and executed by a processor.

  • The processor can determine if enough points have been received to perform a measurement based on anatomical features and pre-stored anatomical data.
  • If sufficient points are received, the processor can perform the measurement.

Potential Applications:

  • Medical imaging for diagnostic purposes
  • Biometric identification systems
  • Anthropometric measurements for research or industrial applications

Problems Solved:

  • Ensures accurate measurements by verifying the presence of necessary anatomical points
  • Streamlines the process of image data analysis

Benefits:

  • Increases efficiency in image data processing
  • Improves accuracy of measurements
  • Facilitates standardized anatomical feature identification

Commercial Applications:

  • Medical imaging software for healthcare providers
  • Biometric security systems for access control
  • Anthropometric measurement tools for research institutions

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the apparatus determine the sufficiency of points for measurement? 2. What types of anatomical features can be measured using this technology?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing studies may focus on enhancing the accuracy and speed of measurements using this technology.

Original Abstract Submitted

According to an aspect, there is provided an apparatus for use in processing image data relating to a subject, the apparatus comprising a memory comprising instruction data representing a set of instructions; and a processor configured to communicate with the memory and to execute the set of instructions, wherein the set of instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: responsive to receiving input indicating a point in an image corresponding to an anatomical feature or sub-feature, determine if sufficient points to perform a measurement have been received based on a comparison of anatomical features and/or sub-features corresponding to the indicated point and any other indicated points with prestored anatomical data, the pre-stored anatomical data indicating for at least one measurement the anatomical features and/or sub-features required to perform the at least one measurement; and if sufficient points to perform a measurement have been received, perform the measurement.
