METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING UPLINK REFERENCE SIGNAL IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18753503 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING UPLINK REFERENCE SIGNAL IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

The abstract describes a method for a user equipment (UE) to transmit an uplink reference signal in a wireless communication system. The method involves applying transform precoding and pi/2 binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation to a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) based on received information, as well as applying pi/2 BPSK modulation to an uplink demodulation reference signal (DMRS).

  • The method involves receiving first and second information to determine the modulation schemes for PUSCH and DMRS.
  • It identifies a sequence with characteristics of a first peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) based on the received information.
  • The method optimizes the transmission of uplink reference signals in a wireless communication system.

Potential Applications:

  • This technology can be applied in 5G and beyond wireless communication systems.
  • It can improve the efficiency and reliability of uplink transmission in mobile networks.

Problems Solved:

  • Addressing the need for efficient modulation schemes for uplink reference signals.
  • Optimizing the power ratio of transmitted signals to improve overall system performance.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced uplink transmission quality.
  • Improved spectral efficiency in wireless networks.

Commercial Applications:

  • Telecom equipment manufacturers can integrate this technology into their products to enhance the performance of wireless communication systems.
  • Mobile network operators can benefit from improved uplink transmission quality and increased network capacity.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this method improve the efficiency of uplink transmission in wireless communication systems? 2. What are the key advantages of using transform precoding and pi/2 BPSK modulation for uplink reference signals?

Original Abstract Submitted

A method, performed by a user equipment (UE), of transmitting an uplink (UL) reference signal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving first information indicating whether to apply transform precoding and pi/2 binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation to a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), receiving second information indicating whether to apply the pi/2 BPSK modulation to an UL demodulation reference signal (DMRS), and identifying a sequence having characteristics of a first peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) based on the first information and the second information.
