the present technology relates to an electronic device, a processing method, and a recording medium, which make it possible to reduce power consumption of the electronic device. an electronic device according to the present technology includes: a sensor including a first detection unit configured to detect at least a part of a body of a user; and a processor including an activation processing unit configured to execute activation processing in a case where the sensor has detected at least a part of the body. furthermore, the processor further includes a recognition unit configured to recognize a gesture of the user on the basis of a first image captured by the sensor in a case where the sensor has detected at least a part of the body. the present technology can be applied to, for example, a smartphone that can be operated by a gesture.
