NETWORK NODE, USER EQUIPMENT AND METHODS IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18290869 titled 'NETWORK NODE, USER EQUIPMENT AND METHODS IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for determining the reliability of positions of a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communications network by comparing two positions of the UE.

  • Obtaining the first position of the UE
  • Obtaining the second position of the UE
  • Comparing the first and second positions to determine reliability
  • Positions are considered reliable if the difference is below a threshold
  • Positions are considered unreliable if the difference is above another threshold

Key Features and Innovation

  • Method for determining reliability of UE positions in a wireless network
  • Comparison of two positions to assess reliability
  • Threshold-based criteria for determining reliability

Potential Applications

The technology can be used in:

  • Location-based services
  • Asset tracking
  • Emergency services

Problems Solved

  • Ensures accurate positioning of UE in wireless networks
  • Improves reliability of location-based services

Benefits

  • Enhanced accuracy in determining UE positions
  • Improved reliability of location data
  • Better performance of location-based services

Commercial Applications

Title: Enhanced Location Accuracy Technology for Wireless Networks This technology can be applied in industries such as:

  • Telecommunications
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Navigation services

Questions about the Technology

Question 1

How does this technology improve the reliability of location-based services? This technology enhances the accuracy of determining UE positions, leading to more reliable location data for services like navigation and asset tracking.

Question 2

What are the potential implications of this technology in emergency services? This technology can help emergency services accurately locate individuals in need of assistance, improving response times and overall effectiveness.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method performed by a network node, a User Equipment (UE), or both, for determining reliability of positions of the UE in a wireless communications network is provided. The method performed by the network node includes obtaining a first position of the UE, obtaining a second position of the UE, and determining whether or not the first position and the second position of the UE are reliable based on comparing of the first position and the second position. The comparison includes determining that the first position and the second position of the UE are reliable when the difference between the first position and the second position is below a first threshold, and determining that the first position and the second position of the UE are not reliable when the difference between the first position and the second position is above a second threshold.
