MOBILE ROBOT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18579101 titled 'MOBILE ROBOT

Simplified Explanation: The patent application is for a mobile robot that can detect impacts and create a virtual wall on a map based on the impact location.

  • The mobile robot estimates a virtual wall-registerable area with multiple cells based on the impact signal.
  • It registers one of the cells in the virtual wall-registerable area as a virtual wall on the map according to registration priority.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Impact sensing signal triggers the robot to create a virtual wall.
  • Virtual wall is registered on the map based on the impact location.
  • Multiple cells are considered for the virtual wall-registerable area.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in:

  • Autonomous cleaning robots.
  • Security robots in restricted areas.
  • Industrial robots for safety measures.

Problems Solved:

  • Enhances safety features of mobile robots.
  • Improves mapping capabilities in dynamic environments.

Benefits:

  • Increased efficiency in robot navigation.
  • Enhanced safety for both the robot and its surroundings.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include:

  • Robotic cleaning services.
  • Security companies for patrol robots.
  • Industrial automation for safety protocols.

Questions about Mobile Robot Technology: 1. How does the mobile robot determine the registration priority for the virtual wall? 2. What other applications can benefit from this impact sensing technology?

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in impact sensing technology for mobile robots to improve safety and efficiency in various industries.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present invention relates to a mobile robot which, if an impact sensing signal is input, estimates a virtual wall-registerable area including a plurality of cells on the basis of the position where the impact sensing signal is input, and registers one of the plurality of cells in the virtual wall-registerable area as a virtual wall on the map according to registration priority.
