Exposure Control for Image-Capture - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240348930 titled 'Exposure Control for Image-Capture

    • Simplified Explanation:**

This patent application describes techniques and apparatuses for exposure control in image-capture devices. By analyzing sensor data, the system determines the likelihood of exposure-related defects in captured images and adjusts exposure times accordingly to reduce these defects.

    • Key Features and Innovation:**
  • Utilizes sensor data to analyze scenes and predict exposure-related defects in images.
  • Determines multiple exposure times for different image-capture devices based on the likelihood of defects.
  • Combines images captured with different exposure times to create a single image with reduced defects.
    • Potential Applications:**

This technology can be used in digital cameras, smartphones, and other image-capture devices to improve the quality of captured images by reducing exposure-related defects.

    • Problems Solved:**

This technology addresses the issue of exposure-related defects in captured images, such as overexposure or underexposure, by adjusting exposure times based on scene analysis.

    • Benefits:**
  • Improved image quality by reducing exposure-related defects.
  • Enhanced user experience with better-looking photos.
  • Increased efficiency in image-capture devices.
    • Commercial Applications:**

Potential commercial applications include digital camera manufacturers, smartphone companies, and other device manufacturers looking to improve the image quality of their products.

    • Questions about Exposure Control:**

1. How does exposure control technology improve the quality of captured images? 2. What are the main benefits of using exposure control techniques in image-capture devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

this document describes techniques and apparatuses for exposure control for image-capture. the techniques and apparatuses utilize sensor data to analyze a scene and, based on this analysis, determine a likelihood of exposure-related defects in captured images of the scene. based on this likelihood, the techniques determine multiple different exposure times for multiple image-capture devices. an image-merging module then combines these different images captured with different exposure times to create a single image with reduced exposure-related defects.
