DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18506134 titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE

The abstract describes a display device with a stabilized output of a small gate driving circuit. The device includes a substrate with a display area and a non-display area, a pixel in the display area, and a gate driving circuit in the non-display area connected to a transistor of the pixel.

  • The gate driving circuit consists of a node control unit, a pull-up transistor connected to a set node of the node control unit, and a pull-down transistor connected to a reset node of the node control unit.
  • The width of the first channel region of the pull-up transistor is greater than the width of the second channel region of the pull-down transistor.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various types of display devices such as LCDs, OLEDs, and microLEDs. - It can also be applied in electronic devices requiring precise gate driving circuits for efficient performance.

Problems Solved: - Provides a stabilized output for small gate driving circuits, ensuring consistent performance of the display device. - Helps in reducing power consumption and improving the overall efficiency of the device.

Benefits: - Enhanced stability and reliability of the gate driving circuit. - Improved display quality and performance. - Energy-efficient operation leading to longer battery life in portable devices.

Commercial Applications: - Display manufacturers can integrate this technology into their products to enhance display performance and reliability. - Consumer electronics companies can utilize this innovation to improve the efficiency of their devices, leading to better user experience and longer device lifespan.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the width difference between the channel regions of the pull-up and pull-down transistors impact the performance of the gate driving circuit? 2. What are the specific advantages of having a node control unit in the gate driving circuit of a display device?

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device offering a stabilized output of a small gate driving circuit is presented. The display device includes a substrate having a display area and a non-display area; a pixel disposed in the display area of the substrate; and a gate driving circuit disposed in the non-display area of the substrate and connected to a transistor of the pixel, wherein the gate driving circuit comprises: a node control unit; a pull-up transistor connected to a set node of the node control unit through a gate electrode; and a pull-down transistor connected to a reset node of the node control unit through a gate electrode, wherein a width of a first channel region of the pull-up transistor is greater than a width of a second channel region of the pull-down transistor.
