DETECTING ABSENCE OF HYBRID AUTOMATIC REPEAT REQUEST FEEDBACK - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18623173 titled 'DETECTING ABSENCE OF HYBRID AUTOMATIC REPEAT REQUEST FEEDBACK
The patent application describes an apparatus that can detect the absence of Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) feedback for a transmission, determine if the transmission is associated with a sidelink unlicensed band, and use interpretation rules to determine the absence of HARQ feedback as either a positive acknowledgement (ACK) or a negative acknowledgement (NACK) for the transmission.
- The apparatus includes at least one processor and at least one memory storing instructions for performing the above functions.
- It can differentiate transmissions associated with sidelink unlicensed bands and apply specific rules for interpreting HARQ feedback absence.
- This technology improves the efficiency of communication in sidelink unlicensed bands by accurately determining the status of transmissions.
Potential Applications:
- This technology can be used in wireless communication systems operating in unlicensed bands.
- It can enhance the reliability and performance of communication in Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Problems Solved:
- Ensures accurate interpretation of HARQ feedback in sidelink unlicensed bands.
- Improves the overall reliability and efficiency of wireless communication systems.
Benefits:
- Enhanced communication reliability in unlicensed bands.
- Improved performance of IoT devices in crowded wireless environments.
Commercial Applications:
- This technology can be valuable for companies developing IoT devices and wireless communication systems for unlicensed bands.
Questions about the Technology: 1. How does this technology improve communication reliability in unlicensed bands? 2. What are the specific rules used to interpret HARQ feedback absence in sidelink unlicensed bands?
Original Abstract Submitted
An apparatus including at least one processor; and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to perform: detecting absence of a hybrid automatic repeat request, HARQ, feedback for a transmission; determining that the transmission is associated with a sidelink unlicensed band; and based at least on the determining that the transmission is associated with the sidelink unlicensed band, using at least one interpretation rule in determining the detected absence of the HARQ feedback for the transmission either as a positive acknowledgement, ACK, for the transmission or as a negative acknowledgement, NACK, for the transmission.
