IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240345517 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes an image forming apparatus that calculates and adjusts the conveyance of recording materials to prevent image defects caused by impacts during the printing process.

  • The controller calculates the loosening amount of the second recording material between conveyance and transfer nips based on its length before feeding.
  • It determines if an image exists in a blurring region where defects may occur due to impacts on the material passing through the conveyance nip.
  • If the loosening amount is significant and an image exists in the blurring region, the controller extends the conveyance interval between the recording materials.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Calculation and adjustment of material conveyance to prevent image defects.
  • Detection and mitigation of impacts on recording materials during printing.
  • Optimization of conveyance intervals based on material characteristics and image presence.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various printing devices such as printers, copiers, and multifunction devices to improve print quality and reduce image defects.

Problems Solved:

  • Prevention of image defects caused by impacts on recording materials.
  • Enhancement of print quality by adjusting conveyance intervals based on material characteristics.

Benefits:

  • Improved print quality and reduced image defects.
  • Enhanced reliability and consistency in printing processes.
  • Cost savings by minimizing reprints due to image defects.

Commercial Applications: Title: Impact Mitigation System for Image Forming Apparatus This technology can be utilized in commercial printing services, office printers, and industrial printing applications to ensure high-quality prints and efficient operation.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research on image forming apparatus, material conveyance systems in printing devices, and image defect prevention methods in printing technology.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be exploring advancements in material conveyance systems, image defect detection algorithms, and impact mitigation techniques in image forming apparatus.

Questions about Impact Mitigation System for Image Forming Apparatus: 1. How does the controller calculate the loosening amount of the second recording material? 2. What are the potential implications of extending the conveyance interval between recording materials in the printing process?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes a controller controlling conveyance of first and second recoding materials. the controller calculates based on an acquired length of the second recording material in the conveyance direction before feeding, a loosening amount of the second recording material between a conveyance nip and a transfer nip when the second recording material is nipped in them. the controller determines based on the acquired information on the image, whether an image exists in a blurring region where an image defect is generated in the image to be transferred due to an impact occurred when a trailing end of the second recording material in the conveyance direction passes through the conveyance nip. the controller extends a conveyance interval between the first and second recording materials when it is determined that the loosening amount is a predetermined value or more and the image exists in the blurring region.
