a satellite switching method is provided, and relate to the field of communication technologies. in this application, a first communication apparatus sends a first request message when determining that the first terminal device is switched from a source access network device to a first target access network device at a future moment. the first request message indicates that a pdu session of the first terminal device is estimated to be switched at a future moment, or the first request message indicates that the first terminal device is estimated to be switched at a future moment. in this way, switching of the first terminal device could be prepared in advance, thereby reducing signaling overheads in the switching procedure of the first terminal device, and reducing a delay in the switching procedure of the first terminal device.
