METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANAGING SECURITY KEY FOR PERFORMING CONTINUOUS CONDITIONAL PSCELL CHANGE IN NEXT-GENERATION MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240340751 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANAGING SECURITY KEY FOR PERFORMING CONTINUOUS CONDITIONAL PSCELL CHANGE IN NEXT-GENERATION MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

The patent application relates to a 5G or 6G communication system that supports higher data transmission rates.

  • Method for user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system
  • Receives configuration information from a master node (MN) for subsequent conditional primary secondary cell group cell (PSCell) addition or change (SCPAC)
  • Configuration information includes SK-counter list with multiple SK-counters
  • Executes SCPAC for a first PSCell associated with a secondary node based on the configuration information
  • Generates a first security key for the secondary node based on a first SK-counter among the SK-counters
    • Potential Applications:**

- Advanced wireless communication systems - Enhanced data transmission rates - Improved security protocols in communication networks

    • Problems Solved:**

- Addressing the need for higher data transmission rates in modern communication systems - Enhancing security measures in wireless networks

    • Benefits:**

- Faster data transmission speeds - Enhanced security features - Improved overall performance of communication systems

    • Commercial Applications:**

Title: Next-Generation Wireless Communication Systems This technology can be utilized in telecommunications companies, network infrastructure providers, and IoT device manufacturers to enhance data transfer speeds and security protocols in their products and services.

    • Questions about the Technology:**

1. How does this innovation improve data transmission rates in wireless communication systems? 2. What are the key benefits of using SK-counters in enhancing security measures for secondary nodes in a network?

Original Abstract Submitted

the disclosure relates to a 5generation (5g) or 6generation (6g) communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. a method performed by a user equipment (ue) in a wireless communication system is provided. the method includes receiving, from a master node (mn), configuration information associated with subsequent conditional primary secondary cell group cell (pscell) addition or change (scpac), the configuration information includes sk-counter list including a plurality of sk-counters, and executing the scpac for a first pscell associated with a secondary node based on the configuration information, wherein a first security key for the secondary node is generated based on a first sk-counter among the plurality of sk-counters.
