METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR OPTIMIZING BEHAVIOR OF AUDIO PLAYBACK SYSTEMS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240334151 titled 'METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR OPTIMIZING BEHAVIOR OF AUDIO PLAYBACK SYSTEMS
The method described in the abstract involves optimizing finite impulse response (FIR) filters associated with different audio channels for playback through a speaker system.
- The first FIR filter is optimized for a first speaker in the system, while the second FIR filter is optimized for a second speaker.
- The second FIR filter is modified to include coefficients based on the relationship between the transducers of the first and second speakers.
Potential Applications: - High-quality audio playback systems - Surround sound systems - Home theater systems
Problems Solved: - Enhancing audio quality for different channels - Improving sound output through multiple speakers
Benefits: - Enhanced audio experience - Better sound localization - Improved overall sound quality
Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Audio Rendering Technology for Speaker Systems This technology can be used in high-end audio systems for home entertainment, professional audio setups, and immersive gaming experiences. It can also be integrated into automotive audio systems for a premium sound experience.
Prior Art: Researchers can explore prior patents related to audio rendering technology, FIR filters, and speaker optimization to understand the evolution of this field.
Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of audio engineering and signal processing may be conducting studies on optimizing FIR filters for various speaker configurations and audio sources.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology compare to traditional audio rendering methods?
This technology offers more precise optimization for individual speakers, resulting in a more immersive audio experience.
2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in different speaker systems?
Implementing this technology may require fine-tuning for specific speaker configurations and room acoustics.
Original Abstract Submitted
a method for perceptual rendering of audio for playback by a playback speaker system includes optimizing a first finite impulse response (fir) filter associated with a first channel of audio input of audio associated with a source, for application to a first speaker in a playback speaker system for output by a first transducer of the first speaker. the method includes optimizing a second finite impulse response (fir) filter associated with a second channel of audio input of the audio associated with the source, for application to a second speaker in the playback speaker for output by at least one transducer of the second speaker, wherein optimizing the second fir filter further comprises modifying the second fir filter to include at least one coefficient defined based upon a relationship between the first transducer and a second transducer.
