METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING UNIFIED TRANSMISSION CONFIGURATION INDICATION IN NETWORK COOPERATIVE COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240334448 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING UNIFIED TRANSMISSION CONFIGURATION INDICATION IN NETWORK COOPERATIVE COMMUNICATION

The abstract describes a method in a communication system involving a user equipment (UE) that supports a higher data transmission rate in a 5G or 6G network.

  • Receiving a Medium Access Control (MAC) control element (CE) that maps Transmission Configuration Indication (TCI) states to codepoints in Downlink Control Information (DCI).
  • Identifying whether the TCI states of the UE are updated based on the received DCI.
  • Updating the TCI states of the UE if they are identified as updated by the codepoint in the DCI.

Potential Applications: - Enhanced data transmission rates in 5G and 6G communication systems. - Improved efficiency and reliability in wireless communication networks.

Problems Solved: - Addressing the need for faster data transmission rates in next-generation communication systems. - Enhancing the management of TCI states in UE for optimized network performance.

Benefits: - Increased data transmission speeds for users. - Enhanced network capacity and efficiency. - Improved overall performance of communication systems.

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Data Transmission Technology for 5G and 6G Networks" This technology can be utilized in telecommunications companies, network infrastructure providers, and device manufacturers to enhance data transmission capabilities in next-generation networks, leading to improved user experiences and network performance.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this method improve data transmission rates in 5G and 6G networks? - This method optimizes the management of TCI states in UE, allowing for faster and more efficient data transmission in advanced communication systems. 2. What are the potential implications of this technology on the future development of wireless communication networks? - This technology could pave the way for enhanced network performance, increased capacity, and improved user experiences in upcoming 5G and 6G networks.

Original Abstract Submitted

the disclosure relates to a 5g or 6g communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. a method performed by a user equipment (ue) in a communication system is provided. the method includes receiving a medium access control (mac) control element (ce), wherein the mac ce maps transmission configuration indication (tci) states to codepoints of a tci field in downlink control information (dci), receiving the dci including the tci field, and identifying, based on the mac ce, whether at least one of a first tci state of the ue and a second tci state of the ue is updated by a codepoint of the tci field in the received dci, and in case that one of the first tci state and the second tci state is identified as updated by the codepoint, updating the one of the first tci state and the second tci state that is identified as updated by the codepoint, and keeping other of the first tci state and the second tci state that is identified as not updated by the codepoint.
