Method and Device for Encoding/Decoding Image, and Recording Medium Storing Bit Stream - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18676997 titled 'Method and Device for Encoding/Decoding Image, and Recording Medium Storing Bit Stream

The abstract describes an image encoding/decoding method that predicts a second color component block using a first color component block.

  • Deriving a prediction parameter from the first color component block.
  • Predicting the second color component block using the derived prediction parameter.

Potential Applications: - Image and video compression technologies. - Digital photography and video editing software. - Graphic design and animation tools.

Problems Solved: - Efficient encoding and decoding of color component blocks. - Improved image quality and compression ratios. - Streamlined image processing workflows.

Benefits: - Enhanced image compression efficiency. - Higher quality images and videos. - Faster processing speeds.

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Image Compression Technology for Enhanced Visual Content" This technology can be utilized in various industries such as media and entertainment, telecommunications, and e-commerce for optimizing image and video content delivery, improving user experience, and reducing bandwidth costs.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this image encoding/decoding method compare to existing techniques in terms of efficiency and accuracy? 2. What potential challenges could arise when implementing this technology in real-world applications?

Original Abstract Submitted

An image encoding/decoding method and apparatus for predicting a second color component block using a first color component block are provided. An image decoding method of the present invention comprises deriving a prediction parameter using the first color component block, and predicting the second color component block using the derived prediction parameter.
