DISPLAY DRIVING APPARATUS AND DISPLAY DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18601295 titled 'DISPLAY DRIVING APPARATUS AND DISPLAY DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME
The display driving apparatus described in the patent application includes a distance calculator, a gain calculator, and a gain applier to optimize pixel data for a display panel based on the location of each pixel in the frame.
- The distance calculator calculates distances between pixels and a central pixel in a frame.
- The gain calculator divides the frame into an interest area and a non-interest area based on pixel distances and determines the gain of each pixel accordingly.
- The gain applier generates pixel data using the calculated gains, with pixels in the interest area having a constant gain value and pixels in the non-interest area having decreased gains based on their distance from the central pixel.
Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in high-resolution displays to enhance image quality and clarity. - It can improve the viewing experience in virtual reality headsets by optimizing pixel data based on the user's focal point.
Problems Solved: - Addressing the issue of pixel optimization for displays to provide a more immersive viewing experience. - Improving the efficiency of display driving systems by dynamically adjusting pixel gains based on their location.
Benefits: - Enhanced image quality and clarity on displays. - Improved user experience in virtual reality and augmented reality applications. - Increased efficiency and performance of display driving systems.
Commercial Applications: Optimized for SEO
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the distance calculator determine the distances between pixels and the central pixel? 2. What are the potential implications of using this technology in virtual reality headsets?
Original Abstract Submitted
Disclosed is a display driving apparatus. The display driving apparatus includes a distance calculator configured to calculate, for a plurality of pixels constituting a frame input to a display panel, distances between respective pixels and a central pixel, a gain calculator configured to divide the frame constituted by the plurality of pixels into an interest area and a non-interest area using the distances between respective pixels and the central pixel, and to determine a gain of each pixel in accordance with an area where the pixel is disposed, and a gain applier configured to generate pixel data using the gain of each pixel. Gains of the pixels disposed in the interest area have a constant value. Gains of the pixels disposed in the non-interest area are decreased in proportion to distances between the pixels in the non-interest area and the central pixel, respectively.
