DRIVING ASSISTANCE APPARATUS, DRIVING ASSISTANCE METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18674186 titled 'DRIVING ASSISTANCE APPARATUS, DRIVING ASSISTANCE METHOD
The driving assistance apparatus described in the abstract includes a video acquisition unit, a person detection unit, another vehicle detection unit, and a determination unit.
- The video acquisition unit acquires video with images of the outside of a vehicle using a far-infrared camera.
- The person detection unit detects a person in the video by referencing a person recognition model.
- The another vehicle detection unit detects another vehicle in the video using a vehicle recognition model and determines if it is traveling.
- The determination unit identifies false detections when the detection range of a traveling vehicle overlaps with the detection range of a person.
Potential Applications: - Advanced driver assistance systems - Vehicle safety technology - Traffic monitoring and management systems
Problems Solved: - Enhancing pedestrian safety on the road - Improving accuracy in detecting vehicles and pedestrians - Reducing false detections in driving assistance systems
Benefits: - Increased safety for both drivers and pedestrians - Enhanced efficiency in traffic flow - Reduced risk of accidents on the road
Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Driving Assistance System for Enhanced Safety This technology can be utilized by automotive manufacturers, transportation companies, and government agencies to improve road safety and optimize traffic management systems.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the apparatus differentiate between a person and another vehicle in the video? 2. What measures are in place to prevent false detections in the system?
Original Abstract Submitted
A driving assistance apparatus according to the present embodiment includes: a video acquisition unit configured to acquire a video in which images of an outside of a vehicle are taken with a far-infrared camera; a person detection unit configured to detect a person from the video by referring to a person recognition model; an another vehicle detection unit configured to detect another vehicle from the video by referring to a vehicle recognition model, and determine whether the another vehicle which is detected is traveling; and a determination unit configured to determine that, in a case where the another vehicle is determined to be traveling, when a detection range of the another vehicle overlaps with at least a part of a detection range of the person, the person detected overlappingly with the detection range of the another vehicle determined to be traveling is false detection.
