LINE GRAPH TRANSFORMS (LGTs) USING 8-BIT AND 10-BIT CORES - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18674486 titled 'LINE GRAPH TRANSFORMS (LGTs) USING 8-BIT AND 10-BIT CORES

Simplified Explanation:

This patent application describes a method, computer program, and computer system for coding video data using transform cores such as line graph transform (LGT) and discrete sine transform (DST).

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Coding video data using transform cores like LGT and DST
  • Identifying transform cores corresponding to the video data
  • Decoding video data based on the identified transform core
  • Transform cores can be 8-bit or 10-bit and correspond to 2-point, 4-point, 8-point, or 16-point transforms

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in video coding and compression applications, multimedia systems, and video streaming services.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the need for efficient coding and decoding of video data, improving compression ratios and video quality.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced video coding efficiency
  • Improved video quality
  • Reduced bandwidth requirements for video streaming

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include video streaming services, video conferencing platforms, and multimedia content delivery systems.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include research papers, patents, and industry standards related to video coding and compression techniques.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers are constantly exploring new algorithms and techniques to improve video coding efficiency and quality, which may be relevant to this technology.

Questions about Video Data Coding: 1. How does this technology improve video coding efficiency compared to traditional methods? 2. What are the potential limitations of using transform cores like LGT and DST in video data coding?

Original Abstract Submitted

A method, computer program, and computer system is provided for coding video data. Video data is received. One or more transform cores corresponding to a transform associated with the video data are identified. The one or more transform cores include one or more of a line graph transform (LGT) and a discrete sine transform (DST) The video data is decoded based on the identified transform core. The transform cores correspond to one or more from among an 8-bit transform core and a 10-bit transform core. The transform corresponds to one or more from among a 2-point transform, a 4-point transform, an 8-point transform, and a 16-point transform.
