Multiple Uplink Codepoint Activation - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18677985 titled 'Multiple Uplink Codepoint Activation

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a wireless device that receives a message to schedule an uplink transmission. The message includes multiple codepoints for downlink control information. The device then receives a separate message scheduling the transmission, based on the codepoints received earlier.

  • The wireless device receives a message with multiple codepoints for scheduling an uplink transmission.
  • The codepoints include one for downlink TCI state and another for SRI.
  • A separate message is received to schedule the actual uplink transmission, based on the codepoints received earlier.
  • The device uses a spatial domain filter determined by the DL TCI state to transmit the data.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Utilization of multiple codepoints for scheduling uplink transmissions.
  • Mapping of codepoints to specific states and resources for efficient transmission.
  • Use of spatial domain filters for optimized data transmission.

Potential Applications:

  • Mobile communication networks.
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
  • Satellite communication systems.

Problems Solved:

Original Abstract Submitted

A wireless device receives a radio resource control (RRC) message indicating multiple uplink (UL) transmission configuration indicator (TCI) codepoints of downlink control information (DCI) scheduling an uplink transmission. The multiple UL TCI codepoints comprise a first codepoint mapped to a downlink (DL) TCI state and a second codepoint mapped to a sounding reference signal resource indicator (SRI). The wireless device receives a first DCI scheduling a first uplink transmission, wherein the first DCI comprises a UL TCI field indicating the first codepoint. The wireless device transmits the first uplink transmission using a spatial domain filter determined based on the DL TCI state indicated by the first codepoint.
