CONNECTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18275175 titled 'CONNECTOR

The patent application aims to achieve a height reduction in a connector system.

  • Female terminal fitting includes a tab inserting portion for a male terminal fitting tab and a resilient contact piece.
  • Housing includes a terminal accommodation chamber for the tab inserting portion and a deflection allowance space for resilient displacement.
  • The deflection allowance space is within the upper wall portion of the housing.

Potential Applications: - Electrical connectors - Automotive wiring systems - Industrial machinery

Problems Solved: - Height reduction in connector systems - Improved contact reliability - Space-saving design

Benefits: - Enhanced electrical connectivity - Compact design for tight spaces - Increased durability and longevity

Commercial Applications: Title: Compact Connector System for Various Industries This technology can be used in various industries such as automotive, electronics, and telecommunications for efficient and reliable electrical connections.

Prior Art: Research existing patents related to connector systems and resilient contact pieces to understand the novelty of this innovation.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in connector technology, materials science, and miniaturization techniques to enhance the performance of this connector system.

Questions about the Compact Connector System: 1. How does the deflection allowance space improve the resilience of the contact piece? The deflection allowance space allows the resilient contact piece to move freely, ensuring consistent contact pressure with the male terminal fitting tab.

2. What are the key differences between this connector system and traditional connector designs? This connector system offers a more compact and space-saving design while maintaining reliable electrical connections, setting it apart from traditional connector systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

It is aimed to achieve a height reduction. A connector (F) is provided with a female terminal fitting () and a housing (). The female terminal fitting () includes a tab inserting portion (), into which a tab () of a male terminal fitting () is inserted, and a first resilient contact piece () exposed on an outer surface of the tab inserting portion () and configured to resiliently contact the tab (). The housing () includes a terminal accommodation chamber () for accommodating the tab inserting portion (). A deflection allowance space () for allowing a resilient displacement of the resilient contact piece () is formed within a thickness range of an upper wall portion () defining the terminal accommodation chamber (), out of the housing ().
