Restricting Display Area of Applications - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18578131 titled 'Restricting Display Area of Applications

The abstract of this patent application describes a method for designating bounded volumetric regions for displaying content on a device.

  • The device includes a display, processors, and memory.
  • It can display content from different applications in separate bounded regions.
  • The device can detect requests from applications to display content in specific regions.
  • It can determine if displaying content in one region obstructs the view of content in another region.
  • The device can decide whether to allow or deny the request based on the characteristics of the applications and the bounded regions.

Potential Applications: - This technology could be used in multi-tasking environments where multiple applications need to display content simultaneously. - It could be beneficial in augmented reality or virtual reality applications where different content needs to be displayed in specific areas.

Problems Solved: - This technology helps prevent visual clutter and interference between different applications' content. - It allows for better organization and management of displayed content on a device.

Benefits: - Improved user experience by providing clear and organized content display. - Enhanced efficiency in multitasking environments.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Content Display Management Technology This technology could be valuable in industries such as: - Gaming - Healthcare (medical imaging) - Design and architecture

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does this technology improve user experience in multitasking environments? This technology enhances user experience by providing clear and organized content display, preventing visual clutter and interference between different applications' content.

2. What are the potential applications of this technology in augmented reality environments? This technology could be beneficial in augmented reality applications where different content needs to be displayed in specific areas, enhancing the overall user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods for designating a bounded volumetric region in which an application can display content. In some implementations, a device includes a display, one or more processors, and a memory. While displaying first content associated with a first application within a first bounded region, the device detects a request from a second application to display second content in a second bounded region. If the first application has a first characteristic, the device determines whether the second bounded region obstructs a field of view of the first bounded region from the device. If the second bounded region obstructs the field of view of the first bounded region, the device determines whether to deny the request to display the second content in the second bounded region.
